Director of Rehabilitation
Renee Mills brings over two decades of veterinary experience to her role as Director of Rehabilitation at Fusion Veterinary Orthopedics. She began her career as a Veterinary Technician in 2000, working in specialty medicine across Emergency, ICU, and Surgery departments. In 2008, Renee joined VCA Veterinary Referral Associates as the Director of Rehabilitation, where she developed and led one of the largest Rehabilitation Departments on the East Coast, serving in that role until 2015.
Renee earned her Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) credential in 2010 through the University of Tennessee. During her tenure at VCA, she treated hundreds of patients recovering from orthopedic, neurological, and conservatively managed injuries. She also oversaw the facility’s Rehab Training Program, acting as a teaching mentor for certification candidates from CRI and UT’s Rehab Program—ranging from veterinary professionals to human physical therapists.
From 2015 to 2022, Renee expanded her impact beyond the clinic by joining Walkin’ Pets as a Product Design and Development Consultant, also serving as a Veterinary Outreach Representative. There, she designed and patented several innovative assistive devices for handicapped and injured animals. She continues to contribute to pet product design and development today, working with companies to bring meaningful, wellness-focused products to market.
An educator at heart, Renee also taught Canine Fitness classes and hosted Dock Diving seminars during this time, focusing on teaching safe conditioning and proper warm-ups for both canine athletes and everyday pups. In 2023, she joined Skylos Sports Medicine as a Relief Canine Rehab Therapist, supporting patients as part of a collaborative rehab care team until 2025.
After 17 years in Canine Rehabilitation, Renee remains deeply passionate about helping animals recover from injury, maintain their strength, and thrive. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and her two yellow Labs, Beezley Butters and Bodhi Macaroni.
